Last weekend our church pastors took all the missional community (MC) leaders away to a retreat in Oceanside, California. Jeff and I had little expectations going into the weekend but we're excited to see some place new. We barely had time to really think about the weekend before we were packed in the car with 3 other friends and driving down the 405 South.
Happy Valentine's Day! I have been so busy this year with work and small group but I am getting back into a rhythm and making more time to explore LA. I wanted to share with you all a quick list of some of my favorite date nights in Los Angeles.
I hate camping...and I don't love the great outdoors.
There, I said it.
I know I know, how could anyone not like being outside when they live in LA? Now, don't read me wrong, I am referring to the great outdoor forests and mountain landscapes that hikers, campers and explores love to spend their weekends and vacations around. I just prefer a congested concrete city and a developed coastline.
Scrolling through Instagram last week had me so encouraged by women. In light of the Golden Globes, my feed was filled with photos of women supporting women, men supporting women, people praising one another and supporting change. In a world that can feel so divided, it’s never been more important to stand together on even the most basic of human rights.
Hi Everyone! I'm opening up today about why I am all for forcing some memories and having zero chill at Christmas. Now, don't get me wrong, I have so loved the years my family has laid around the house and taken our time doing just about anything. It does provide the much needed rest we ALL need over the holidays. This year was different for me.
Although 2017 was rough and felt like it went by in 5 seconds, (but seriously, anyone else??) Jeff and I are looking at 2018 with hopeful anticipation of a healthy, bright and connected new year. We are so grateful for all the blessings in our lives, especially in light of everything that happened globally this past year. I wanted to share a quick summary of my resolutions for 2018 and about a thousand photos from our annual Roaring Twenties New Years Bash!
Last Christmas Jeff's dad generously gifted us all a reunion trip to Pacific City, Oregon. Pacific City was a lot smaller and more relaxed that I realized. I had never been to this coastal town before and although I was envisioning a weekend in the Hamptons, this charming seaside stop was still a peaceful place to spend a holiday. And peace was EXACTLY what we needed.
eal Talk. I went from saying I'd never be a stay at home Mom (while dating Jeffrey) to being an obsessive homemaker (upon marrying Jeffrey). I had 2 months off work after we wed and spent all day every day putting together all the details of our new home.
When I met my husband, one of the first things I noticed was he was never without a watch. He always checked his watch, not his phone, for the time and it became a small detail I learned to love. It pointed to his maturity and ability to remain present around me and other people. A quick check of his watch and it was back to the conversation, the meal preparation or whatever adventure we were having. I decided I needed to follow his example and become a watch wearer myself.
I am so excited to share with you all our day at the Huntington Gardens. In case you didn't know, I am OBSESSED with botanical gardens. They are among my favorite places to explore in any city and I finally made the trip to LA's Huntington Gardens with some girlfriends. I thought it would make for the perfect ladies day out activity and create a space to meet and hang out with some of the new women in our church community.
