We love the GriffithObservatory. If you have read my blog for a while you have seen or watched our tales from Hollywood's best vantage point.
When our friends visited from Mississippi we knew Griffith was the best spot to show them...well...ALL of LA. We drove up in early afternoon and took our time walking around the various observation decks, sticking to the outside to get all the best views. We also stepped into the Telescope atrium for a sneaky peak. The telescope is open for actual viewing in the evenings until 9:30 pm.
One my dearest friends Michelle is expecting her first baby - a boy due this summer! We have known Michelle and her husband Pat for years and I was honored to host her baby shower alongside some of our closest friends earlier this season. The second I found out Michelle was expecting I bought the napkins and bunting.
I am so excited to bring you all the first post in my contributor series. One of my best friends, Laurel, is one of the best hosts I know and she routinely throws the best themed parties at her craftsman home in Ohio. She shared with me the details of her Beauty And The Beast Tea Party and I thought it was perfectly timed to the movies release on video! I hope this encourages you to through your own watch party at home with all of these sweet details.
Although our church here in LA is small, we are committed to maintaining a regular rhythm of womens-only events that encourage both spiritual growth and fellowship amongst the ladies of our community.
When working long hours or getting caught up in the business of day-to-day life, I find myself often missing the company of my girl friends. Seeing my gal pals a couple times a week for missional community small group or for our discipleship night is AMAZING don't get me wrong.
But there is something very special about the company of a larger group of women.
YOU GUYS...this might be one of my favorite blog posts to date. The other weekend myself, Jeff and our friends Caleb and Marinna hopped in our hatch-back and drove to the ever-instagrammableAntelope Valley Poppy Reserve. After Southern California experienced her long awaited "Super Bloom", the reserve was flooded with visitors and my social media feed was flooded with photos of the spectacular orange colored hills.
In late February our missional community small group (affectionately known as Tall House) went on our 2nd annual retreat up to mountains of Lake Arrowhead.
After almost doubling our group in size (praise God) we still managed to find an amazing Air BnB that comfortably housed all 15 of us. Because of our need for a larger house, we also managed to get one of the gorgeous properties right above the Lake. Our house featured 2 large back desks with panoramic Lake views, cathedral windows and an awesome finished basement with a pool table.
After spending a glorious afternoon in Central Park with my best friend Sarah, we made our way over to Lower Manhattan to meet her husband Casey at The Highline. Walking this side walk park had been on my NY Bucket List for a while. Even though we were exhausted from our miles in the park, I was excited to see the city from this famous and newly beautified land mark. We slowly sojourned along the path from W 15th to W 30th (and back), stopping to take in the vistas and a bit of cheeky ice cream.
On of my favorite spots to dine and chat in all of LA has to be Faith & Flower. Soon after we were married, Jeff took me on a date to this art deco restaurant and ever since it has been one of our top choices for fine dining in the city.
On a sunny Sunday afternoon we drove downtown with our friends Sydney and Jon to experience Faith & Flower's famous Dollar Oyster Happy Hour. This was my first time trying the polarizing seafood but I knew Jon and Sydney (who are obsessed with the dish) would be the best people to encourage me on to try it.
As a bonus option to Days 1 and 2 of the Yellow Conference, attendees can purchase a ticket to one of 4 targeted Workshops. Last year's conference workshops were geared towards either the Starter, Leader, Solopreneur or Non-Profit.
At the time I was very much interested in figuring out the direction of my blog and was stuck in how to start. Therefore the STARTER workshop ended up being the perfect place to meet and engage with other stuck creators like myself. This additional third day was my favorite part of the conference by far.
Welcome to City & Grace where I share a little bit about city-life, making cities your home, and my favorite one of all, Los Angeles.

Oh how beautiful and powerful these minutes were...praying with my sisters and holding onto @nicolemariebeyer before she walked down the aisle. #soulsisters #hollywoodhills #fridayfeels #beyersest2017
I've been trying to take a daily walk to get away from my screens for 15 minutes. It makes me appreciate how pretty LA is and the value of a few quiet minutes. #lalove #citywalks #summerblooms #allthepretty
I'm already getting excited for the seasons to change. I'm building out my second half of the year goals and would love to read yours! #august #autumnweather #motivationtuesday #goalsetting

When the art matches how you feel... I fell for this piece at The Broad and am making a mental note to take a photo of the artist's plaque next time. #thebroadmuseum #artimitatinglife #dtla #discoverla
