In lieu of a weekend getaway, Jeff and I celebrated One Year of marriage with a staycation day date in Los Angeles. We packed our own picnic to enjoy throughout the afternoon but for the evening Jeff made us reservations at one of LA's best Italian restaurants Il Cielo in Beverly Hills.
The ambiance at Il Cielo is absolutely incandescent. The restaurant boasts a large open air veranda tented with lights and a clear view of the early evening sky. We were seated promptly at a sweetheart table along the vine-covered brick wall. The entire table sparkled with hundreds of twinkle lights which perfectly illuminated the rose petals waiting for us upon arrival. Major love to Jeff for caring for me so well and ensuring the restaurant pulled out all it's stops for us.
We began with appetizers; caprese, as it is of course our favorite, and samples of some of the delicious house wine. For supper I selected the Bucatini all'amatriciana, a delicious pasta with guanciale, pecorino cheese and tomato. I have to admit that I ordered this dinner not recognizing that guanciale is salami. Even for my white meat and fish only tendencies I was pleasantly surprised at the deliciousness of this dish. Jeff excitedly ordered the Pollo Arosta and was very content with its melt-in-your-mouth quality and the accompanying mashed potato.
The food was excellent and the service even better. We were checked in on constantly but not so much as to feel crowded. Our glasses were always full and my chair ever slightly adjusted if needed. And if that wasn't enough, we were kindly brought the best dessert I have ever had - a dark chocolate and raspberry dream on the sweetest silver platter.
This treat truly made our Il Cielo visit over the top - which is my favorite way to experience anything :) A huge huge thank you to my darling husband for knowing the best way to my heart...roses and dessert.
I can honestly say that this is one of the most romantic restaurants I have ever been to and I highly suggest making a visit if you want to set the mood, or if you just want to sit and eat delicious food somewhere magical.
Il Cielo is truly the perfect setting for your next special dinner or date, romantic inclinations or not. It is truly a sparkling gem in Beverly Hills and I cannot wait to dazzle friends with a return visit. Sitting underneath the thousand twinkle lights and chandeliers is enough to draw me back to this truly lovely eatery.
Thanks again to Il Cielo for such an amazing anniversary celebration.
Ciao for now!
