Bold Confidence in Notting Hill

As this post is going up on New Year's Eve - it seems so apt that this particular adventure encapsulates my word for 2017 - BOLD. On our last full day in London, Jeff and I explored Notting Hill Gate. It is one of my favorite neighborhoods in all of London with its bright and vibrant color schemes, unique shops and markets and the quaint village-feel that makes you forget you are in a giant world city.

We spent the entirety of this afternoon strolling and parading and capturing every inch of the gorgeous Portobello Road. It was the first time on our trip that I had zero cares for what others might think of us as we snapped away.

It's no surprise that most of our photos are somewhat staged. I might pose a little this way or that to tell the story of the day and normally this comes with a twinge of self-consciousness or worry of what others might think about my not-so-professional modeling skills. But something about this particular day was so different. I had no fear. I felt confident. I felt BOLD.

Jeff was on point this day. He found every amazing golden lit angle to photograph and encouraged me to dance along the street as I posed. I remember vividly thinking, "This is what makes me happy, I don't care if onlookers think we're strange, we are telling a good story." I laughed and smiled and felt myself for this first time in a long time.

I don't want to ever forget that feeling of confidence. I want to continue to be bold in our photos, bold in our story telling and bold in declaring all the amazing work God is doing in our lives through blessings (hello this trip) or through struggles.

2017 is going to be about me being me, the way God intended it to be, with Him by my side and living out His callings, His identities, and His glory in BOLD.
