His tourist company Italian Splendor works with both the private and corporate sectors to plan and provide amazing trips to Italy. His agency helped us book our train tickets all over Italy and booked our hotel in Rome.

Our Own Secret Garden in Verona

We spent our last full day back in Verona exploring one of the best hidden gems of our entire European holiday. Jeff had read about the Giardino Giusti when researching what to do in Verona. As small as this village town is, it naturally has a similarly small list of places to site see. We wanted to relax but still explore and maybe get another view of the city from the eastern hill. I am so glad we decided to check out these gardens just outside the city center because they delivered some of the most serene moments.

Wading and Waiting in Venice

We spent our morning in Venice getting lost in it's streets with the locals, visiting the Rialto Bridge and shops, and eventually making our way to Piazza San Marco. The Campanile is the bell tower of St. Mark's Basilica and a place where visitors can get a panoramic view of the city. We decided it would be our one chance to get a macro perspective on this amazingly complex city and so we waited in the long line of tourists for our turn to see the vista.

Oh a whim Jeff and I decided to swap our plans to go to Lake Garda with a day trip out to Venice. So many people had suggested we go to Venice but for logistical reasons we weren't able to book a stay there. We had wanted so badly to visit this city and when we researched and found it was a mere hour and half train ride from Verona, we decided then and there to pay a visit. Now I know that people usually visit the island for much longer periods of time but we were set to fill our Venice day as much as we could from sun up (literally) to sun down.
