Bold Confidence in Notting Hill

Bold Confidence in Notting Hill

As this post is going up on New Year's Eve - it seems so apt that this particular adventure encapsulates my word for 2017 - BOLD. On our last full day in London, Jeff and I explored Notting Hill Gate. It is one of my favorite neighborhoods in all of London with its bright and vibrant color schemes, unique shops and markets and the quaint village-feel that makes you forget you are in a giant world city.

Westminster, Sunday Roasts and Growing Up

Westminster, Sunday Roasts and Growing Up

On our weekend day in London, we made the absolute most of the perfect blue skies and walked our way to one of my favorite spots - Westminster Bridge near the houses of parliament. This was the first place I went after touching down in London and dropping my bags at my college flat. My friend Carrie and I took the tube down to Westminster stop to see the clock tower and prove to ourselves that we had in fact actually moved to London - and that we were not dreaming.

This time I had the same urge to feel that magical joy of standing on the precipice of a dream and my reality. Here I was finally back in London...with my husband....and one of my best friends...and did I mention the sunshine? We had a right romp around.

Gratitude & The Harry Potter Studio Tour

Gratitude & The Harry Potter Studio Tour

We sat in the car at 3:30 am and waited for the cinema to open the doors. It was November 2004 and I was about to see my first Harry Potter film in theatres. Flash forward 12 years, 2 books, 5 movies, a bachelors degree in film and hours of obsessing and binging on the world's favorite wizard and you arrive at me...finally sitting in the room I had dreamt of my whole life, the great hall at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

When planning our trip to London, I talked to so many friends about the value of the Warner Brother's Studio Tour and time and time again I was brought back to the same conclusion. If I didn't go and walk those halls I would surely live to regret it. I am so grateful we bought those tickets because our day in Leavesden was one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences of our entire trip/summer.

Exploring Harrods and The V&A

Exploring Harrods and The V&A

On our first full day in London we had a right and proper explore on Cromwell Road. We decided that museums and shopping would suit the gray rainy day pretty perfectly. Our host and tour guide Seda is one of my very best friends and since she moved to London I have been dying to visit my old college stomping grounds once again. This time, however, we were armed with a South Kensington native who took us to her favorite spots beginning with cafe Brutti & Boni on Gloucester Road.
