Jeff and I have been fortunate enough to befriend so many generous people in LA. Among them are our dear friends Steven and Denise Maynard who thoughtfully invited us and some friends to ride a duffy out from the Marina Del Rey Yacht Club.Read More
The other day we went on a double date with 2 of our best friends Loee and Joel. We opted to stay local and check out the new bread shop which had started to serve pizza and beer.
Lodge Bread is located on Washington Blvd just west of the 405 in Del Rey. We had been hearing about their amazing bread and figured the pizza (and pizza dough) must also be amazing.Read More
The other night Jeff and I went on a double date with our friends Brianna and Frank. They suggested a tiny little Italian place on Lincoln Blvd. half way between our houses. I must have driven past Centanni a hundred times but never truly noticed this charming little corner restaurant.Read More
Jeff and I pride ourselves on being locals at our neighborhood eateries and bars. However, our love of thai food had not yet brought us down the road to A La Carte Thai Bistro on Washington Blvd just west of Centinella Avenue. We went on a Wednesday night and were surprised to find the place empty. We savored the early dinner hour and decided to stretch out across the front booths all by ourselves.Read More
I discovered B Sweet when trying to show out-of-town friends that LA has an amazing dessert scene. The first time I went was an absolute mish'. We had just finished Sunday dinner and realized the restaurant closes at 8 pm. At 7:40, I called the restaurant and begged them to stay open for us (a party of 12) and promised we would be there in 15 minutes. Not only did they keep the doors open but they also gave us some of the best service and desserts I have had to date.
The other night my friend Brianna and I made our way back to B Sweet as a craving had grown quite strong since my first visit. The shop is located in the heart of Sawtelle's Little Osaka district. Although it is small and the line grows quite long (always a good sign) the servers move quickly. We have never had to wait to long for our treats.Read More
A couple weeks ago, my friend Lindsay and I met up in Downtown Culver City to enjoy some lunch and catch up time. As Downtown Culver is one of my favorite areas in all of LA, I was so excited that a new restaurant had opened in what was once an empty shop corner at Culver Blvd. and Duquesne.
This particular corner boasts a gorgeous street view of Culver City City Hall, it's gardens and the historic Culver Theatre (now known as the Kirk Douglas). I used to frequent the same spot years ago when it was a french restaurant. Now, Picnic LA has reclaimed the space as farm-to-table eatery boasting an assortment of incredible seasonal dishes and desserts.Read More
I love desserts. I consider myself a connoisseur of the delectable and an obsessor over the sweet. I am fortunate because LA has so many incredible dessert spots and it's own collection of uppity and unique ice cream shops.
When my best friend Sarah flew into LA for the weekend, she suggested we check out the westside's latest cool house addition Salt & Straw.
Best. Decision. Ever.Read More
I have never been big on coffee. But when a friend and then another friend and then a gift card pointed us to the fancy' fance' coffee shop Intelligentsia I figured we should make it a date.
My husband Jeff has become quite the coffee lover so we made our way down to Intelligentsia's west side location on Abbot Kinney in Venice.
My husband Jeff and I LOVE Thai food. Thai is our go-to food of choice anytime we have a date night or go out with friends. I fell in love with this far east food during my early days as a production assistant. I often went on dinner runs to the area Thai restaurants and have since developed an obsession with yellow curry, crab puffs and Thai iced coffee. This year, Jeff and I decided to expand and do a proper "Thai Tour" of LA. We of course had to start at our local spot House of Thai Taste on Venice Blvd in Venice.Read More
I believe it is possible to have different types of soul mates. Of course I am deeply in love with Jesus, and then my husband, but I have to add a few of my female best friends into that mix as well. My best friend Amy has been my accountability partner for the last 9 months and I can honestly say we are soul mates.Read More
